MISS JNR SA 2014 “Be the change You want To See In The World”
My name is Monique Basson. I am 17 years old and turning 18 in January 2015 and will then be in matric. After my matric, I would like to study beauty and tourism. I believe that each person is beautiful in his/her way and they should believe it, no matter what. I want to bring out that beauty in each individual and I want them to believe it.
I am a proudly South African citizen and I describe myself as a friendly, loveable person and love to give to others.
Weekends I love to do charity work and give back to the community. Beauty is not just about having a pretty face; it’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and a pretty soul.
Why Iris House
One day I was reading the Tygerburger about a girl with special needs. I phoned the parents and realised that it’s one of my teachers. At that time I was already involved with Iris House and I referred them to Iris House. It gave me such pleasure to know that there is a house to where I can refer people with kids with special need. Iris House is one BIG family where they look after kids with special needs and also help the parents with these kids.
I have a passion for children and I want to be ‘n roll model for the youth. The world must see that our young people can also do things and that we can make a difference in the world.
